Tyler Hershey on a Roll as the Summer Heats Up!

 

Hershey Racing and young late model standout Tyler Hershey have gotten just as hot as the weather. The nineteen year old college student from Mercersburg, PA has found his groove which has seen him put the Hershey’s Racing Engines/Lazer Chassis #74 towards the front of the finishing order more often than not. The former limited late model champion has numerous top 5 finishes this summer and has been knocking on the door for his first career super late model feature win. The family owned team has been concentrating on racing Hagerstown Speedway on Saturday’s where Tyler sits fourth in points at the big Maryland half mile. Other nights have seen the team pick and choose where they race against some of the best regional racers in the county week in and week out.

 

“The car is really good right now” said Tyler from the teams shop. “My Dad and the whole crew have worked really hard and I’m starting to reward them for all the work. Right now this Lazer Chassis seems to work great no matter where on the track I want to run. Dad keeps tweaking on it and it is better every time I strap in” added Hershey. “We had some terrible luck at the beginning of the season, but now I’m real comfortable in the car and the engines are running great. I just need to work on my pill draws” added Tyler with a laugh, as he has more than once pulled the highest number available this year.

 

The team will race hard prior to the start of Tyler’s fall semester and then will race when school allows this fall. The team plans on hitting big end of the year races at Roaring Knob and Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, both speedways that Tyler had success on in 2009.
